Sixteen years and photography is still at the core of my soul. It's true. As someone who is a self over sensitive sole, I hope to pass on the importance of photography to my kids. I grew up looking through photo albums on a weekly basis.
The gift that made me cry from my Grandparents. My favourite thing to do is go through my Nan and Grandads photos, I would spend hours shifting through the photo albums whilst asking questions; "who's this?" "what happened to them?" and diving into the world of the Sylvester family, learning the history and comparing faces to mine.
One Christmas I asked my Grandparents for an album with them all in and they delivered, it was the best gift! I have never been a material girl, photos are my go to. Growing up with a camera on us, capturing the simple times. 2 year old AJ building blocks in the front room or putting on a dance singing performance (which Lyla now loves to do too, how the circle of time happens). Knowing they spent time putting it together, an album for me to keep though secretly I think they were fed up of me asking every time I visited to look through their boxes of photos.
Why are photos so important?
Life is a gift we are fortunate to have 50-100 years of and when we do move on, the ones we leave behind will hold photos of us and remember what we were like and how we made them feel. The younger generations will ask questions, they'll show their interest and photos are a perfect way to tell them the stories of your childhood.
